Petros Charalampoudis MD PhD FRCS FEBS

Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon

Mr Charalampoudis is an expert Consultant Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgeon with particular interest in the treatment of breast cancer and benign (non-cancerous) breast conditions. He manages all aspects of breast disease and offers the latest evidence-based techniques and approaches in a tailored, individualised fashion.

Mr Charalampoudis’ ethos is pivoted around patient-centred care. Breast cancer is a long journey, which is why Mr Charalampoudis and his team believe it is crucial for patients to feel that they are in good hands and are being treated by a team with expertise and compassion.

Mr Charalampoudis has accrued over 15 years of experience in medical and surgical training before becoming a fine clinical consultant surgeon with a strong research and teaching portfolio. He holds a Medical Degree and a PhD in Breast Cancer from Athens University Medical School. He has also completed a prestigious Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery Fellowship at Guy’s Hospital Breast Unit and King’s College London, where he was also appointed Consultant and Honorary Clinical Lecturer. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Fellow of the European Board of Breast Surgery.

Mr Charalampoudis currently treats patients at University College London Hospitals and Whittington Health (NHS) as well as privately at the HCA Wellington Breast Unit, King Edward the VII Hospitals and The Breast Wellness Institute at 99 Harley Street.

He collaborates with a fine team of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Radiologists, Pathologists, Oncologists and Plastic Surgeons, in order to offer his patients a truly individualized, teamed approach.

Ms. Mahwash Masood Babar
MBBS, MRCSI, MD, FRCS, CCT

Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon

Ms Babar is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, based at Whittington Health as a substantive full-time consultant. She is fully qualified and trained as a dedicated Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon via the London School of Surgery Specialist Training Programme (South West London and Surrey).

Ms Babar has completed an MD thesis and research fellowship in Cancer in Trinity College Dublin and a Diploma in Cancer prevention at the National Cancer Institute in Washington. She has a keen interest and a strong background in surgical postgraduate education in affiliation with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Ms Babar specialises in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery and performs Level I, II and III Oncoplastic Reconstructive Breast Procedures. She also performs implant-based reconstruction and therapeutic/reduction mammoplasty, contralateral symmetrisation and revisional surgery.

Her expertise also includes developmental breast problems, benign breast pathology and aesthetic breast surgery. For all these procedures, she has achieved Level IV competence in Procedure Based Assessment in Specialist Surgical Appraisal. She is based at Whittington and also has an honorary contract with University College Hospital London and Royal Free Hospital London to perform regular Reconstructive Breast Surgery across sites.

She lives in Surrey with her husband and two children and enjoys swimming, cycling and taking long walks in the countryside.

Ms Babar is passionate about the patient-led choice of care and breast reconstruction and has published positive outcomes of active patient role in guiding their breast cancer treatment.

Miss Monika Kaushik
MBBS, DNB, MD, FRCS

Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon

Miss Kaushik is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

She specialises in diagnosis and management of benign and malignant breast conditions. She has a keen interest in research and education. She is also the Research Lead of the department and is a Clinical Tutor for the trust.

Her main clinical interests are modern management of breast cancer and benign breast conditions and she achieves the best outcomes in cancer surgery and breast appearance. This is done with a multidisciplinary team approach with evidence based practice.

She was appointed a consultant at the trust in 2013 after completing a specialist oncoplastic fellowship at Addenbrooke’s Hospital , Cambridge.

She is actively involved in promoting breast awareness and has conducted various public meetings to facilitate this. She is an examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has been an invited speaker at various national and international meetings.

Mr Walid Sasi
MBChB MSc MD(Res) FRCSEng(Gen Surg) FRCSEd FEBS(Gen, Breast, Surg Oncol)

Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon

Mr Sasi is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester. His specialist area is breast cancer surgery, breast reconstruction and oncoplastic procedures. His aim has always been to preserve and enhance aesthetic outcomes without compromising disease control.

He completed his Oncoplastic Fellowship training in Edinburgh under the tutorage of the leading breast surgeon Professor J Michael Dixon.

Mr Sasi is a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh. He is also a Fellow of the European Boards of General Surgery, Breast Surgery (Third Prize), and Surgical Oncology (Second Prize and ESSO Silver Medal).
 
His research interests include the molecular biology of breast cancer. He was awarded his research doctorate (MD) for his thesis into the role of the SOCS tumour suppressors in breast cancer by the University of London in 2015. He has published and presented his research at a national and international level. He is an active trainer, teaching breast surgeons at a national and local level.

Mr Noyko Stanilov
MD, MSc, PhD, FRCS

Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon

Mr Noyko Stanilov is a Locum Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon. He specialises in the assessment and management of benign and malignant diseases of the breast. Mr Stanilov provides high standard, evidence based, tailored oncoplastic care, with empathic approach and focus on excellent patient outcomes.

He manages breast cancer with a range of oncoplastic breast conservation strategies and types of breast reconstructions, including pre- and sub-pectoral immediate implant-based reconstruction with acellular dermal matrix.

Mr Noyko Stanilov graduated from Medical School in 2003 with honours at Trakia University, Stara Zagora, Bulgaria.

In 2005 he began Surgical Training and the following year started teaching as an assistant professor. Mr Noyko Stanilov became a general surgeon in 2010 and was awarded a PhD in 2013 for his work on molecular cancer profiling. In 2012 he moved to the UK and after jobs in numerous reputable Breast units such as Leeds, North and West Middlesex Hospitals, St George’s and St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London he was talent spotted and invited to join the team at University College London Hospital in 2016 where from 2019 was appointed as a Locum Consultant Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgeon.

In April 2017 Mr Stanilov received from the management of the McMillan Cancer centre the Staff excellence award, after nominations in three separate months by both staff and patients.

In addition, Mr Noyko Stanilov leads on the undergraduate medical students teaching for Breast Surgery at UCL and holds a post of an Associate Professor of Surgery at Trakia University, Bulgaria teaching future UK doctors.

Consultant Radiologists

Dr Miaad Al-Attar MBChB, DMRD, FRCR

Consultant Radiologist

Dr Al-Attar is a highly experienced Consultant Radiologist. She gained her medical degree in 1987, and commenced specialist Radiology training at Derriford Hopsital, Plymouth and subsequently joined the Leicester Radiology training scheme in 1999.  In 2002, she started a one year breast imaging fellowship at King’s College Hospital, London. In September 2003, she joined the imaging team at the University Hospitals of Leicester as a Consultant Radiologist with special interest in breast imaging.

She is a highly experienced radiologist working in the NHS, and also has practicing privileges in the private sector at Spire Leicester, Spire Nottingham and Nuffield Leicester hospitals.

Dr Al-Attar participates in the National Breast Screening Programme and reads over 8000 mammograms annually, in addition to performing regular assessment clinics. She supports the one stop breast 2WW symptomatic clinics. She is experienced in all aspects of breast imaging and interventions, including Magseed and localiser insertions, and vacuum assisted biopsy under stereo and ultrasound guidance. She has vast experience in breast MRI reporting and perform MRI guided biopsy.  Recently, she led the introduction of Contrast Enhanced Mammography within the breast care centre at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester.

Dr Al-Attar is a team player and enjoys good working relationships with her colleagues.

Dr Nicky Dineen MBChB BSc FRCR

Consultant Radiologist

Dr Nicky Dineen is a Consultant Radiologist with a subspecialist interest in breast imaging.

Dr Nicky Dineen qualified from Leicester University Medical School in 2011 and completed Specialist Radiology training in Kent, Surrey and Sussex School of Radiology, rotating across hospitals in Kent and London. She gained her Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Clinical Radiology in 2018 and was subsequently appointed as a Consultant at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. She works in both the Symptomatic and Screening Breast Services.

Dr Dineen is experienced in all aspects of specialist breast imaging, such as contrast-enhanced mammography, Breast MRI and CT (including Oncology Clinical Trial reporting) as well as all ultrasound-guided interventional procedures including vacuum excision and microbubbles.

She is a member of the Royal College of Radiologists and the British Society of Breast Radiology.

Dr Nicky Dineen

Dr Amr Hamid MBBCh (Hons), FRCR

Consultant Radiologist

Dr Hamid is a highly experienced consultant radiologist who completed his general radiology and sub-speciality training at the West Midlands radiology training programme. He has been working in the National Health Service for the last 12 years at consultant level and his main areas of expertise are Breast imaging, Emergency Radiology and Oncological body CT imaging.

Dr Hamid is an NHS Breast Screening accredit radiologist who has extensive knowledge and skills in the field of breast imaging. He was appointed as Consultant Radiologist and Director of Chester Breast Screening Unit at the Countess of Chester NHS Hospital (2008 – 2012). He is now supporting the East of England NHS Breast Screening service working previously at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust based (2013 – 2016) and currently at James Paget University NHS Teaching Hospital in Norfolk (2017 – to date).

Dr Hamid is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists and member of several reputed medical societies such as the British Society of Breast Radiologists (BSBR), British Society of Emergency Radiology (BSER) and British Medical Association (BMA).

Dr Nicola Hartley MBChB MRCS FRCR

Consultant Radiologist

Dr Hartley is a Consultant Radiologist at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

Dr Hartley graduated from Bristol University Medical School. She gained extensive surgical experience on the Oxford Surgical Training Scheme and the Northwest London Training Scheme, before moving to Leicester to teach at the University of Leicester Medical School. Her Radiology training was completed in the East Midlands Deanery, and she was appointed as Consultant in 2013.

She has specialist expertise in Women’s Imaging, encompassing all aspects of Breast and Gynaecological Radiology. She is also very experienced in General and Acute Imaging. Her diagnostic skills within Breast Imaging range from the reporting of Mammography – including Tomosynthesis and Contrast Enhanced Mammography, to Ultrasound and MRI. Dr Hartley also performs a wide range of interventional procedures, including image guided biopsy and vacuum excision, and various types of localisations.

Dr Hartley takes a central leadership role within her Unit, acting as the Clinical Lead for Symptomatic Imaging. She is passionate about education and training, and is both an Educational and Clinical Supervisor for several trainees. She has also co-organised the internationally recognised Leicester FRCR2B Course for the last three years.

Dr Kate Hawtin

Consultant Radiologist

Dr Hawtin is a Consultant Radiologist at University College London Hospital with specialist expertise in breast imaging.
 
Dr Hawtin qualified from Cambridge University and Imperial College School of Medicine in 2000, graduating with distinction. She obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2003 prior to commencing Radiology training at Imperial College NHS Trust, and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists in 2007. 
 
She was appointed as a Consultant Radiologist in 2012, and has specialist expertise in breast and general imaging. She undertakes all aspects of breast imaging including mammographic, ultrasound, MRI and CT diagnostics. She performs all ultrasound and stereotactic breast related procedures, including vacuum excision and breast lesion localisation prior to surgery.
 
Dr Hawtin is also the Training Programme Director for the University College Hospital Radiology training scheme, and is enthusiastic about education and training the next generation of Radiologists.

Dr Moin M Hoosein
MBBS, BSc (Hons), MRCS, FRCR

Consultant Radiologist

Dr Hoosein is a Consultant Radiologist at University Hospitals of Leicester, and practices privately at Spire Leicester, Nuffield Leicester, and Spire Tollerton Hospitals.

Dr Hoosein qualified from Royal Free and University College Hospital Medical School (UCL, London) in 2004. After completing his basic surgical training in London, he went onto specialist Radiology training in Leicester and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists in 2012. He was appointed as Consultant Radiologist in 2013.

Dr Hoosein has specialist expertise in breast, genitourinary and general/acute imaging. He undertakes all aspects of breast imaging including mammographic (plain, contrast enhanced and 3D), ultrasound, MRI and CT diagnostics. He performs all ultrasound and stereotactic breast related procedures including biopsies, localisations and vacuum excisions. Additionally, he performs MRI guided breast biopsies.

Dr Hoosein has previously held the position of Deputy Director for Leicestershire and Rutland Breast Screening Service. He is enthusiastic about education and examines junior doctors at the distinguished Leicester FRCR 2B course which attracts candidates from across the world.

Dr Humaira Khan MBBS, FCPS, FRCR, PGCMe

Consultant Radiologist

Dr Humaira Khan is a highly experienced Consultant Radiologist. She qualified as a doctor internationally and completed her specialist Radiology training at the prestigious and world-renowned Aga Khan University Hospital. 

She was appointed as a substantive Consultant Radiologist in 2006 at University Hospitals of Leicester and in 2011 took up a post as substantive Consultant Radiologist at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Hospitals. 

During this time, Dr Khan was Director for Breast Screening Services for the Sandwell and West Birmingham programme between 2018-2020.  Her main areas of expertise are breast and gynaecological imaging. She is experienced in all aspects of breast imaging and interventions including biopsies, localisations, and vacuum excisions.

She has vast experience in breast MRI reporting. She is also highly skilled in neck FNAs and core biopsies. 

Dr Ayman Mahfouz MBBS FRCR

Consultant Radiologist

Dr Mahfouz is a Consultant Radiologist and Joint Emergency Imaging Lead at University College of London Hospital (UCLH).

Dr Mahfouz qualified from Barts and the Royal London School of Medicine in 2009. After completing his junior doctor training at Imperial College Healthcare NHS trust, Dr Mahfouz attained his Fellowship at the Royal College of Radiologists whilst training in the East Midlands Deanery.

Dr Mahfouz has specialist expertise in breast imaging. He undertakes all aspects of breast imaging including mammographic (plain, contrast enhanced and 3D), Ultrasound, MRI and CT diagnostics. He performs all ultrasound and stereotactic breast related procedures including vacuum excision.

Dr Mahfouz has previously been elected as a regional representative for doctors in training at the Royal College of Radiologists. He is enthusiastic about education and continues to provide postgraduate teaching at the distinguished Leicester FRCR 2B course.

Dr Sophie Pattison MBBS FRCR

Consultant Radiologist

Dr Sophie Pattison is a Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in breast imaging. She has an NHS practice at University College London Hospital.

Dr Pattison trained in medicine at Bristol University. She undertook surgical training which included a period of breast surgery and obtained Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2001. She then became a lecturer in patient safety and subsequently undertook specialist radiological training at University College London Hospital. She was appointed as a Consultant Radiologist in 2014.

Dr Pattison is the joint lead for breast radiology at University College London Hospital and is also joint lead for quality and safety in the radiology department. She also undertakes breast screening radiology at North London Breast Screening Service.

She undertakes all aspects of breast imaging including Mammography, Ultrasound, MRI and CT diagnostics. She performs all ultrasound and stereotactic breast related procedures including vacuum excision.

Dr Tehreem Raza MBBS MRCS FCPS FRCR

Consultant Radiologist

Dr Tehreem Raza is a Consultant Radiologist with sub-speciality in Breast imaging. She qualified as a doctor and completed her surgical training internationally and obtained Membership of Royal College of Surgeons Glasgow in 2011. She completed her Radiolgy specialist training in 2014 internationally and was appointed as a Consultant Radiologist in 2015 at Western Sussex Hospital NHS currently part of University Sussex Hospital NHS foundation trust.

She has experience in all aspects of Breast imaging including Mammogram, Tomosynthesis, Breast Ultrasound, Breast MRI (Screening & Symptomatic) as well as all type of Breast interventions.

In her daily practice she is expert in all types of diagnostic Ultrasounds and reporting of Cross-sectional/Oncology CT scans.

Dr Raza is a member of Royal College of Radiologist, Royal College of Surgeons and Physician Glasgow, British Society of Radiology, British Society of Breast Radiology, Pakistan Society of Radiology and College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.

Dr Konstantia Diana Stavrou MBBS BSc FRCR

Consultant Radiologist

Dr Konstantia Diana Stavrou is a Consultant Radiologist with a subspecialist interest in breast imaging.

Dr Stavrou completed her medical school training in 2009 at the Royal Free and University College London Medical School. Following Foundation Training in North Central Thames Foundation School, she began her Radiology Specialty Training at Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust in 2012. After completing her basic training in radiology and gaining her Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) in 2016, she underwent a 16-month fellowship in breast imaging at London North West University Healthcare Trust. She trained in all aspects of breast imaging within the symptomatic and breast screening settings. Dr Stavrou gained her Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Clinical Radiology in 2018.

Dr Stavrou practices and has considerable experience in all aspects of breast imaging including mammogram, tomosynthesis, contrast-enhanced mammography and breast MRI reporting, as well as in all breast interventional procedures. She has practiced as a Consultant Radiologist at Barts Health NHS Trust before beginning her current post at Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Olga Strukowska MBBS BSc FRCR

Consultant Radiologist

Dr Olga Strukowska is Consultant Radiologist with a wealth of experience; her subspecialty is in women’s health imaging. Dr Strukowska qualified in 1994 from Gdansk University Medical School in Poland. She completed radiology specialty training in 2003.

Her practice in the UK National Health Service began in January 2006, when she was appointed as a Consultant Radiologist at Worthing Hospital, currently part of University Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Strukowska was appointed as Director of West Sussex Breast Screening Service and led the service since 2007 and was in this position till 2013. She was then reappointed in 2019 and hold this position to this date. She is the leading breast radiologist and a key member of the breast multi-disciplinary team (MDT) at Worthing Hospital for screening and symptomatic services. She is also key member and lead radiologist for gynaecology MDT.

She subspecialises in breast and female pelvis imaging. She has in depth experience in breast ultrasound and imaging guided interventions, including fine and core needle biopsies of breast, axilla and neck lesions, cyst or abscess aspiration, vacuum assisted procedures under local anaesthesia and various types of pre-operative localisations of breast lesions. She also reports mammography for screening and symptomatic services, including tomosynthesis and contrast enhanced mammography. She is involved in setting West Sussex Breast Unit as part of AI trial for screening purposes.

Dr Strukowska set up the breast MRI service in 2007 at Worthing Hospital, which has since become a standard part of care according to national and local guidelines. She also reports gynaecology MRI scans and performs gynae Ultrasound (US) scans.

In addition, in her daily practice Dr Strukowska performs all types of US scans, including general abdomen, thyroid/ neck, superficial, scrotum and doppler imaging. She performs paediatric US scans for spine, hips and abdomen, specialises in musculoskeletal and soft tissue imaging and has a special interest in image-guided injection therapy.

Dr Strukowska reports complex oncology as well as acute CT scans.

Since 2006 Dr Strukowska has been also working in the private setting for BMI Goring Hall Hospital where she leads imaging for weekly breast clinics, reports cross sectional imaging and performs ultrasound scans.

Dr Strukowska continues her professional development by taking part in courses and conferences. She is involved in training of junior doctors, advanced practitioners, and sonographers, and teaches medical students at Brighton Medical School.

Dr Strukowska is a Member of the Royal College of Radiologists, British Society of Breast Radiologists and European Society of Radiology.

Dr Neil Upadhyay MBBS BSc FRCR MRes MEd

Consultant Radiologist

Dr Neil Upadhyay is a Consultant Radiologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust subspecialising in breast and MSK radiology.

Dr Upadhyay completed his medical degree and a BSc in Management with Medical Sciences with first class honours at Imperial College London. He completed subspeciality training in breast and musculoskeletal radiology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, as well as a musculoskeletal fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

Dr Upadhyay was appointed as a Consultant Radiologist in 2014. He undertakes all aspects of breast imaging and a wide range of procedures under ultrasound and stereotactic guidance including biopsies, localisations and vacuum excisions.

Dr Upadhyay is passionate about teaching and research in imaging, and has completed two Masters degrees: a Masters in Education (MEd) and a Masters in Translational Research (MRes) at Imperial College, achieving distinctions and prizes in both. He is currently an Academic Tutor at Imperial College.
